Making the Grade

I've been tossing around the idea of taking a deeper dive into the cards in my collection for quite some time now. I'm hoping to get something specific out of this series - to gain a deeper appreciation for the cards in my collection. Not only do I want to appreciate them to their fullest, I would also like to share that appreciation with you!

I have come up with, what I think, will be a fun way to do exactly that. I want to look at different cards in my collection and spend a little time talking about them. I'll assign each card an overall grade based on my completely arbitrary grading scale (much like third party graders do.) But instead of just tossing a numerical grade out there, I will explain why I gave each card that specific grade.

I will cover different aspects of each card and what I think about those elements. Things like: availability/rarity, design, photography, and the back of the card. I would also like to do a little research during these appreciation posts. I want to try to dig up some history on the card whether that is the provenance of each individual card or other interesting facts I can discover about the card.

To share the grade of the cards, I have come up with a completely custom flip for them. This is what the flip looks like:

I'm really looking forward to sharing my collection with you! Now it's time to go do some more research on some of these cards sitting here in my collection and get them graded (by me)!
