Grading Standards

Grade Definitions for cards in The Rolen Collection

There are multiple third party grading companies out there that collectors all know. I'm personally not a fan of any of them. If graded cards are your thing, great! It's just not my thing in the traditional sense. What I'm doing here, is assigning grades to cards in my collection based on numerous factors. The scale is completely arbitrary and made up by me. I will outline the different attributes for each grade below.

These grade descriptions are guidelines, designed to outline the evaluation process of mine as I establish a specific grade. Other factors that may or may not contribute to the final assigned grade might not be specifically noted in these descriptions.

The Grades

For a card to get a grade of "GEM MT" it must be visually stunning and held in the highest regard. Not only that of my own, but also collectively by the hobby. It must be well designed and showcase superb photography. These will typically be your "Mt. Rushmore" type cards for collectors; especially that of player collectors.
